What is not considered an academic source for a term paper?

Resources that are not published by scholars in a peer-reviewed journal are generally considered non-academic. So that means that articles published in popular magazine and newspapers (even if the writer is a scholar) are not considered academic sources. Information gleaned from websites are generally not academic though they might contain government reports, information from non-profit organizations, or information from experts that may be approriate for a term paper.  For tips on evaluating information on the Web, review our "Evaluating Websites" page.
